Abstract

A heavy 'acorn' is used to load the bight of a curtain operating cord 5 so as to maintain the cord lengths A and B parallel and spaced apart. The device comprises a plug 1 accommodated within a second, tubular body 2 and capable of being slid upwardly with respect to the second body 2 as far as a stop 6, with the bight of the cord 5 inserted in a side cavity or recess 3 in the first body 1 and in two grooves 4 directed along two generatrices of the body 1. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION A device for tensioning a curtain cord This invention is concerned with a device of some weight to pull the cord taut in operation for the opening and closing of sliding curtains.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a device of such a design, which is of particularly simple configuration to maintain at parallel and spaced apart relationship the two cord lengths which are respectively operated to cause the curtains to move together and apart, or respectively for closing and opening the curtains. In other terms, it is a basic object of the present invention to provide a device of such a design, which is suitable to prevent the two cord lengths from being intertwined, whilst maintaining the same parallel and well spaced apart.
A device according to the present invention is essentially characterized by comprising a first body intended to cooperate with the cord, and a second tubular body for accommodating the first body, enabling the latter to travel through defined axial movements in an upward direction limited by a suitable stop abutment, said first body having both a side cavity or recess in which the cord is inserted and two grooves communicating with said cavity or recess and respectively directed along two generatrices for containing the two lengths of cord joined to the length accommodated in said cavity or recess.
For a best showing of these and further features of a device according to the present invention, an exemplary embodiment of the device according to the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which: Figure 1 is an elevational view showing a first body; Figure 2 shows said body in elevational view and rotated through 90 relative to Fig.
1; Figure 3 shows the same body in a plan view; Figure 4 is an elevational view showing a second body; Figure 5 shows said second body in a plan view; and Figure 6 is a sectional view showing the whole assembled device, that is the two bodies are interconnected, while the cord is also shown.
The device comprises a first body designated at 1, and a second tubular body designated at 2 and having an axial hole F therethrough, in which said first body 1 can be inserted from the bottom and slid. The two bodies 1 and 2 can be made of wood or other suitable material.
Said first body 1 has a side cavity or recess 3 (milling) which extends slightly beyond the median plane P. This body 1 also has two grooves 4 directed along generatrices.
A cord 5 for controlling the sliding blocks and accordingly the curtains is inserted in said cavity or recess 3 and in said grooves 4.
When assembled, the whole appears as shown in Fig. 6.
At the bottom said body 1 includes an enlarged portion meeting at position 6 a surface of said body 2 providing a stop for said body 1, that is the end of stroke in its upward travel. Under such conditions, said cavity or recess 3 does not open outwardly, but remains hidden in said body 2. The two cord lengths 5, designated at A and B, are operated for the curtain opening and closing, and are parallel and spaced apart and do not become intertwined.
1. A device of some weight for tensioning a cord, which cord is operated for the opening and closing of sliding curtains, comprising a first body intended to cooperate with the cord, and a second tubular body for accommodating said first body, enabling the latter to travel through defined axial movements in an upward direction limited by a suitable stop abutment, said first body having both a side cavity or recess for accommodating said cord and two grooves communicating with said cavity or recess and respectively directed along two generatrices for containing the two lengths of cord joined to the length accommodated in said cavity or recess.
2. A device according to claim 1, wherein said stop abutment limiting the upward stroke of said first body with respect to said second body is at such a position as to prevent said cavity or recess of said first body from projecting from said second body.
3. A device for tensioning a curtain cord, substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
