Abstract
A balancing rope of circular section, for vertical conveying in hoisting plants of deep mines, is provided with an anticorrosive protection comprising a coating 1 of an elastic material resistant to corrosion extending along the whole length of the rope. The coating does not fully fill up gaps among rope strands 2 and forms a sealed sheath on the rope surface, the internal surface 5 of which sheath is adapted to the shape of rope surface. <IMAGE>
Description
SPECIFICATION
Rope of Circular Section with Anticorrosive
Protection for Vertical Conveying
The invention relates to a rope of circular section with anticorrosive protection for vertical conveying from galvanized wires.
Steel ropes, especially as balancing ropes for vertical conveying in hoisting plants of deep mines, are often operated in an environment which has corrosive effect on rope wires.
Decrease of the original size of wire material, loss of strength and desirable mechanical wire properties takes place as a result of corrosion effect. By this operating time of the rope becomes shorter. Rope failure as a result of loading due to substantial decrease of load capacity by corrosion effect can take place in extreme cases.
Protection of steel ropes against corrosion is performed by coating of protective lubricant layer on the rope or single wires. Enhancement of anticorrosive protection of wires at ropes with textile ply is supposed in the inner rope parts by a successive lubricant displacement from textile ply in the course of operation of the rope, which ply is impregnated with lubricant and serves as a lubricant reservoir.
Metal coating of steel wires with zinc or other metals is another process of protection against corrosion.
The processes of protection mentioned are not sufficiently effective at ropes operation in aggressive and wet environment. Lubricant put on wires is successively washed away by water.
After corroding the protective metal layer on wires direct corrosion of steel rope wires takes place.
Use of rubber or synthetic material for ropes protection against corrosion is more effectives as these materials are insensible to the effects of corrosion environment.
Up to now known processes of protection with the help of synthetic materials are performed in such a way, gaps among rope strands or wires are in the whole rope cross section filled up with protective material/West-German patents No.
1 270 450 and 881 763/, optionally gaps in single strands are filled up with the relevant material and the rope is produced from thus adapted strands/West-German patent No.
2 630417/.
Another processes of protection are so performed, that the rope has filled up gaps and surface of wire core with rubber or synthetic material, onto which core optionally further layer of synthetic material is put on as a basis for surface rope strands, which are not already protected /West-German patents No. 2 548 162 and 2 703 670A optionally gaps of some of the inner layers of rope strands are filled up with synthetic material /West-German patent No.
2031 895A Protection from synthetic material combined with metal sheath is at single-wire strand conductors or prestressing elements composed of torsion optionally parallel sectional wires/British patents No. 133 007 and 1 394 362/.
In the cases protection with the help of synthetic material is performed both by filling up the gaps among strands in the whole rope cross section and on its surface, neighbouring strands in the layer are produced with opposite stranding direction /British patent No.1 197 329A Protection performed only at the inner rope parts /wire core, some of the inner layers of rope strands/ exposes wires and strands on the rope surface to the effect of corrosion environment, which wires and strands remain without protection.
The processes of protection presented have to be performed at the rope production process what enhances requirements on rope process equipment.
The above-mentioned drawbacks are eliminated by a balancing rope of circular section with anticorrosive protection for vertical conveying, subject matter of which consists in that, protective coating from an elastic material resistant to corrosion is put onto the rope along its whole length, which coating does not fully fill up gaps among rope strands and forms sealed sheath on the rope surface, internal surface of which sheath is adapted to the shape of rope surface. An auxiliary layer from any material with maximum thickness 1 mm can be inserted among protective coating and rope strands. The protective coating is put on the rope after its production.
Protective coating on the rope surface, forming sealed sheath along its whole length, prevents from access of corrosion environment both to surface and to inner rope strands. Effective protection of the whole rope cross section against corrosion is thus reached. Longitudinal and transverse motion of strands is simultaneously made possible, which motion takes place at rope loading, without precluding or making this motion more difficult by protective coating on the rope surface. This process of protection can be used for any rope kinds by coating the rope with protective coating after its production at what desirable equipment for protective layer coating is not necessary at the own rope production.
Requirements on process equipment are substantially decreased by that and possibility of use of this process of rope protection are spread.
At balancing ropes used in an environment with explosion hazard material with required conductance can be used for forming protective coating by what origin of electric charge is precluded or its leading to desired place is made possible.
The respective rope can be before coating with protective material covered with an auxiliary layer made of a tape from paper or synthetic material of very small thickness in order to reach desired thickness and shape of layer of protective sheath of the balancing rope. By that introduction of protecting sheath material into gaps among rope strands is precluded and formation of uniform thickness of protective sheath along the whole perimeter and length of the balancing rope is made possible.
Examples of embodiment according to the invention are presented on Figures No. 1 and 2.
Protective coating 1 coated on the surface of steel rope composed of six strands 2 and textile ply 3 is illustrated on Fig. 1.
Protective coating 1 coated on the surface of steel rope composed of six strands 2 and textile ply 3, which rope is covered with an auxiliary layer 4 formed by tape for example from paper or synthetic material with thickness up to 1 mm, are illustrated on Fig. 2.
Steel ropes with protective coating on surface according to the invention can be used in an environment with corrosion effects, especially as balancing ropes for vertical conveying in hoisting plants of deep mines.
