Abstract

Sand is placed in a circular tray 1 which is rotatable about inclined axis 2 by motor 5 through gears 4 and 6. Rollers 13 run on a circular track on the base of the tray 1 and transmit vibrations from a vibrator 15 fixed to a support 12 which carries the rollers 13. The support 12 is mounted on two frame members 9 by four resilient cushions 11. For adjustment of the position of the rollers 13 to compensate manufacturing tolerances the cushions 11 are pivotably connected with the support 12 and their lower ends are eccentrically connected with rotatable pins. The pins are threaded and adjustable in height relative to the frame 9 by means of nuts in order to vary the pressure of the rollers 13 against the tray. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Apparatus for draining compact materials The invention concerns an apparatus for draining compact materials, in particular sand, consisting of a hollow cylindrical container, rotatable on an axis sloped from the vertical, such container having in contact with said container and spaced at a distance from the axis of rotation of the container at least one vibrating roll, said vibratory roll or rolls having planes of rotation which run principally in the circumferential direction of the container and being mounted in a holding arrangement connected with a vibration exciter, wherein the holding arrangement is supported on frame parts of the apparatus by means of resilient members.
Such an arrangement is, for instance, known from the Austrian Patent 353,726. In this known arrangement, two vibrating rolls are arranged on a common holding arrangement which also bears a vibration exciter, and is supported on parts of the framework of the arrangement by means of elastic members. The rotation axes of the vibration rolls intersect the rotation axis of the container at right angles.
Although it has been shown that, with such an apparatus, very good results are achieved with regard to the draining of compact materials, such as sand, there is heavy wear on the vibration rolls, over which rolls the floor of the container or a raceway attached to it. This wear is apparently due to inexactitude of the position of the vibration rolls with reference to the rotation axis of the container, causing the container not just to roll over the vibration rolls, but also to execute a sliding movement at an acute angle to the plane of rotation of the vibration rolls. However, in the known apparatus, an adjustment is not provided for, so that unavoidable tolerances in constructing the apparatus lead to bearing faults in the vibration rolls or their holding arrangement. Thus, only a small deviation of the position of the holding arrangement from its proper position in a radial direction leads to a deviation of the position of the axes of the vibration rolls fixedly attached to the holding arrangement from the proper position aligned radially to the rotation axis of the container, so that the rotation planes of the vibration rolls are no longer tangentially aligned and therefore a purely rolling movement over the vibration rolls of the rotating container is not possible.
The aim of the invention is to avoid this disadvantage of the known apparatus.
According to the invention, this is achieved in that the holding arrangement of each vibration roll is supported on at least one adjustment unit having a pin connecting a part of the framework with the holder or an elastic intermediary member, such pin being rotatable with regard to at least one of the parts which it connects. Thus it is possible to exactly adjust the position of the vibrating rolls and thus to compensate the tolerances unavoidable in construction. Further, the pressure of the vibrating rolls on the floor of the container is also adjustable. This allows the optimal adjustment of the operating parameters with regard to the material to be drained.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention the pin is formed as a screw bolt, held in a hole in a framework part, and adjustable in height, one end of which engaged in an elastic intermediary piece or the rigid end of such, which results in a very simple construction.
The height adjustment of the pin is preferably achieved by means of two nuts, pressed onto both sides of the part of the framework penetrated by the pin.
In arrangement as first referred to, in which the two vibration rolls are arranged in a common holding arrangement provided with a vibration exciter, the rotation planes of which encloses an angle, and the rotation axes of which are aligned with the rotation axis of the container, a further feature of the invention provides that the common holding arrangement of the two vibration rolls is supported on four adjusting members on a part of the framework, the pins of which connected with a framework part are each rigidly connected with the relative elastic intermediate member at a space from its longitudinal axis, whereby the intermediary members are also rotatably connected with the holding arrangement. Thus, by turning the pins and the elastic intermediary members connected with them, it is possible to alter the position of the holding arrangement of vibrating rolls with regard to the framework and thus also with regard to the container, enabling the exact adjustment of the vibrating rolls.
The invention is explained below with the aid of the drawings: Fig. 1 shows an elevation of an arrangement according to the invention; Fig. 2 part of the plan view according to Fig. 1; and Fig. 3 shows a detail of the arrangement according to Figs. 1 and 2 in an enlargement.
It can be seen from Fig. 1 that the container 1 has a rotation axis 2 leaning from the vertical, around which it is rotatable. The bearing arrangement 3 of the container 1, which is put into rotation by means of a gear ring 4 and a pinion 6 driven by a motor 5 is held in a framework 7, which also bears the motor 5 and has supports 8 against the vertical.
The holding arrangement 12 taking up the vibration rolls 13 is supported on this framework 7 and its struts 9, via adjusting members 10 and elastic intermediary members 11.
The axes 1 6 of the vibration rolls 13 are held in supports rigidly connected with the holding arrangement 12 and aligned with the rotation axis 2 of the container 1. In this way the rotation planes of the vibration rolls 13 are tangentially placed relative to raceway 1 8 on the base of the container which comes into contact with the vibration rolls with the rotary movement of the container 1, and rolls over them. The support 12 is vibrated by a vibration generator 15.
The adjusting members 10 have, as can particularly be seen from Fig. 3, a screw pin 20 fixedly connected with the rigid end piece 19 of the resilient intermediary member 11, such pin being offset radially from the rotary axis 21 of the elastic intermediary member 11 with its rigid end piece 19. These screw pins 20 penetrate smooth holes 22 in the struts 9, and are adjustably and fixably held by two nuts 24 with washers 23 against both sides of the strut 9. Thus, by turning one nut 24 and then turning the second it is possible to alter the space between the strut 9 and the rigid end-piece 19 of the elastic intermediary member 11, whereby the pressure of the vibration roll 13 on the floor of the container 1 is adjustable.
As can be seen further from Fig. 3, the podshaped elastic intermediary member 11 is rotatably connected with the holding arrangement 12. Thus it is possible to adjust the holding arrangement 12 relative to the strut 9 in its radial direction as well as in its angular position, by turning the rigid end-piece 19 eccentrically mounted on the pin 20, as the loosening of one of the nuts 24 enables the screw pin 20 to be turned in the hole. In this way an adjustment of the vibration rolls is possible, both with regard to the angular position of their rotary axes in relation to the tangents at the point of the vibration roll with the raceway and with regard to its pressure on the floor of the container 1.
