Abstract

208,654. Stubley, J. R. Jan. 16, 1923. Lateral-splash guards consist of a ring 8 of rubber, leather, or other flexible material mounted in a channel ring 7 secured to the wheel, the internal diameter of the ring 8 being greater than the diameter of the bottom of the channel 7 so that the ring is rotated independentdy by contact with the ground and adopts a position eccentric to the channel ring in a rearward direction. The ring 8 may be moulded so as to be inclined outwardly on its edge, Fig. 6, and may have a strengthening ring 9 vulcanized or otherwise secured to maintain the ring in shape. Specification 20235/12, [Class 144 (i), Wheels for vehicles], is referred to.
