Abstract
208,238. Hartman, F. D. Sept. 15, 1922. Globes; maps.-Relates to terrestrial or celestial globe maps formed from a flat sheet of material cut out to form a number of segments 1 connected together at the equatorial belt and provided at the ends with apertured tabs 3 for the passage of an axial rod 4 so that the map can be set up as a polyhedral globe. According to the invention, the segments are in the form of lines and are sufficient in number to give the equatorial belt a substantially circular form when its ends are joined, the edges of the lines being so shaped that they contact on substantially circular meridian lines. The ends of the equatorial belt are locked together by notched tabs 5, and the axial rod 4 may be provided with two or more collars 6, one of which may be fixed and the others having a friction-tight fit on the rod.
