Abstract

A fluid temperature indicator comprises a temperature sensor 92 located in the outlet of a fluid mixing valve (not shown) receiving at its inputs hot and cold fluids via respective manually operable control valves. The sensed temperature is compared at 96, 98, 112 with a predetermined temperature range and indicator lights 100, 102 are illuminated as appropriate. Light 100 or 102 is illuminated when the sensed temperature is respectively above or below the predetermined range, both lights 100, 102 being illuminated when the sensed temperature lies within the predetermined range. The lights 100, 102 are associated with or incorporated into the control handles of the manually operable control valves. The lights 100, 102 may have different colours; alternatively, audible warning devices or tactile display devices may be used. If the sensed temperature deviates too far from the predetermined range, additional control valves are automatically actuated. To conserve battery power, a flow sensor 114 is employed so that the indicator circuitry is energised only when fluid is present in the outlet of the fluid mixing valve. <IMAGE>
