Abstract

The machine has an endless belt X around rollers A and B, the axles of which are supported on a metal frame C, C'. The axle of the front roller A may be supported at different heights by slotting the ends of the axle into grooves D, E, F, etc., thereby altering the angle of inclination of the running surface provided by the belt. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Jogging Machine The apparatus consists of two rollers around which is an endless "conveyor belt". When the protruding ends of the axles of the rollers are placed in the grooves D, E, F etc. on C' and S on C of the solid metal frame C and C', then the belt is taut. The rollers turn easily on ball bearing axles; The front wheel A can be raised above the level of back wheel B to various heights and slotted into grooves D, E, F etc by lowering section C' about hinge G (note: C and C' overlap and are held together by joint H).
When a person stands on the tilted track his weight causes him to roll down, from left to right in the diagram: to stay in the same place he has to move forward e.g. to jog. The higher the roller A is lifted above roller B, the faster the person has to move or jog. Thus we have a jogging machine which does not use motorised power.
Claims
(Filed on 26 Nov 1980) With reference to the drawing on the application 1/77 submitted earlier, the front roller can be raised above the back roller and held at various heights thus enabling the jogger to jog at various speeds.
The main feature of the invention is that the front roller can be raised or lowered relative to the back roller.
In this machine this is effected by raising or lowering the axle of the front roller onto notches at various heights; however, it might be achieved by placing the roller-front or the front of any other form of jogging machine-at various heights relative to the back. i.e. the invention relates not to the particular device used but to the principle (of increase af Potential Energy as height increases) which is made use of in a jogging machine by varying the height of the front in relation to the back.
