207,649. Brown, W. J., Bell, H. G., and Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Co., Ltd. Sept. 18, 1922. Condensers.-A variable condenser comprises a wire or other conductor 1 which is wholly or in part surrounded by a wire or strip 3 in helical or other form capable of being expanded or contracted for the purpose of varying the capacity, means such as clips 4 or clamps being provided for retaining the wire or strip 3 in the position to which it is adjusted. The condenser may be used for tuning the windings of high-frequency intervalve transformers on anode reactance coils, and it may be also applicable for screening conductors in wireless apparatus. Instead of employing clips cr clamps, the end turns of the helix may be tightly pinched on the insulation 2 after the adjustment has been made.
