Abstract
A packaging-strip (1) for wrapping coin stacks is provided with tear-open strips (2), each having one end (9) projecting above one edge (10) of the packaging-strip (1). The tear-open strips (2) are not attached to the packaging-strip (1) within edge- folding zones of the packaging-strip (1). The tear-open strips (2) may have a different light absorption property from that of the packaging-strip for use in controlling feed of the latter. Control holes (6) may be provided for the same purpose. <IMAGE>
Description
SPECIFICATION
A packaging-strip for machines for packaging coins
The invention relates to a packaging-strip for machines for packaging coins, on which stacks of coins can be packaged in a wrapping which can be torn open with the aid of a tear-open strip.
Packaging-strips of the above type are known, which, after having been cut to the length required for wrapping a stack of coins, are provided with a single tear-open strip (Swiss Patent Specification 601,675). The processing of packaging-strips of this type is unsatisfactory, in that it is exceptionally troublesome and expensive to attach the tear-open strips individually to the packagingstrip, besides which the. fact that the attachment of the tear-open strips to the packaging-strip must be carried out in the immediate vicinity of the machine for packaging the coins proves particularly inconvenient.
The object underlying the invention is to produce a packaging-strip of the type under discussion, which can be processed in the same manner as a packaging-strip which is not prepared with tear-open strips, that is to say, a packagingstrip for which it is possible to dispense with the attachment of tear-open strips in the region of the machine. This object is achieved, according to the invention, by providing the packaging-strip with a plurality of tear-open strips, which are at a distance from one another equal to at least twice the circumference of the stack of coins which is to be wrapped.
The packaging-strip according to the invention breaks away, to a certain extent, from the technique which has hitherto been used for producing coin packages having tear-open strips, in that the packaging-strip according to the invention opens up the possibility of loading machines with a packaging-strip which has previously been prepared throughout with tearopen strips.It is self-evident that it is necessary, in order to process the packaging-strip according to the invention, to employ machines for packaging coins which operate according to a system which differs from that of the machines known hitherto, and that, in particular, it is necessary, in the case of the new machines, to arrange that the windingphase is controlled by reference to the packagingstrip, in order to ensure that the packaging-strip always comes to rest at essentially the same position on the wrapping of the stack of coins.
A packaging-strip of the type under consideration which proves particularly advantageous is one in which all the tear-open strips extend perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction of the packaging-strip and their optical absorption coefficient differs from the optical absorption coefficient of the packaging-strip. In such a case, the tear-open strips can assume the function of a signal for controlling a machine for packaging coins.
In the text which follows, the invention is explained in greater detail with the aid of the attached drawing, in which:
Figure 1 shows a perspective view of a roll of packaging-strip;
Figure 2 shows a section along the line Il-Il in
Figure 1;
Figure 3 shows the side of a tear-open strip which faces the packaging-strip;
Figure 4 shows the side of the tear-open strip according to Figure 3, which faces away from the packaging-strip;
Figure 5 shows a section through a coin stack package, and
Figure 6 shows a plan view of the coin stack package according to Figure 5.
Figures 1 and 2 show a packaging-strip 1, which is provided with a plurality of tear-open strips 2 which extend perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction of the packaging-strip and are at a distance from one another equal to at least twice the circumference of each of the stacks of coins which are to be wrapped. In other words, each tear-open strip 2 is associated with a section of packaging-strip located between two cuttingpoints 3.
The whole of the packaging-strip 1 is wound onto a winding core 5, which can be secured into an appropriate receptacle of a carrier on a machine for packaging coins. The tear-open strips 2 can generate signals for controlling the operation of advancing the packaging-strip 1 in a packaging machine. In this case, the tear-open strips should have an optical absorption coefficient which differs from that of the packaging-strip 1. It is then possible to control, by means of these tear-open strips, a sensor which is designed as a reflecting light barrier. If it is not desired to use the tear-open strips 2 as signals, it is then possible to provide the packaging-strip 1 with control holes 6, which can interact with a feeler device which is not illustrated. Perforations 7, which facilitate the subsequent tearing open of the package, are located on both sides of the tearopen strip 2.The same purpose is served by an additional perforation 8, which is made at a distance from the centre of the tear-open strip corresponding to the circumference of the coins in question.
As can be recognised from Figures 1 and 2, one end 9 of each tear-open strip 2 projects slightly above the upper edge 10 of the packaging-strip 1.
Whilst the packaging-strip 1 consists of paper, the tear-open strips 2 are produced from a plastic foil which resists bending. The tear-open strips 2 are attached to the packaging-strip 1, by a layer 1 3 of pressure-sensitive adhesive, only outside the edge-folding zones 11 and 12 of the packagingstrip 1. If a plastic foil, which is coated over the whole of its surface with adhesive, is used as the starting material for the production of the tearopen strips 2, this foil must be masked in the region of the edge-folding zone 11 by means of a masking strip 14, as shown in Figure 2. The side of the tear-open strip 2 opposite the masking strip 14 is provided with a ribbed texture 1 5, which enables the end of the tear-open strip 2 to be gripped more easily.
By reason of the design and arrangement, as illustrated, of the tear-open strips 2 on the packaging-strip 1 , the operation of folding over the edges of the packaging-strip 1 presents no problems, on the contrary, smooth and continuous folded over edges 16, 17 are obtained, as can be seen from Figure 5, which shows a packaged coin stack 18.
