Abstract
207,014. Schweter, E. Oct. 30, 1922. Furnace gases, mixing steam with.-Relates to the production of motive. fluid for engines and comprises apparatus capable of use as an ordinary steam boiler or as a generator for mixed steam and combustion gases. The fuel is contained in an airtight receptacle 1 connected by a pipe 28 and valve 27 with the chamber 24 for bringing it under the pressure of the power gas mixture. A conveyor worm 2 feeds the fuel to a pipe 6 leading up through the bottom of the grate, which of a helical tube cooled by a water supply 30. When a valve 15 is closed and valves 35, 37 are open the combustion gases may be led directly to the atmosphere or when these valves 35, 37 are closed as shown the gases may be led past the opened valve 15, through the ports 18, through a conical veil 23 of water, round a chamber 25 and by means of an aperture in a horizontal wall 42 to a gas purifier and tube 41. Water enters an annular chamber 20 from a tube 21 and is discharged into the water space or boiler, the upper part 24 of which is made double walled by the addition of an inner wall 40 dipping down into the water and providing an annular steam space for reducing the temperature of the walls and tubes. The valves 15, 35 which are inter-connected by an elastic connection may be operated by a hand lever 17.
