Abstract

The Boom is "T" shaped with a small eye at the bottom of the vertical section to which the hook snood is attached. The boom is attached to the line by turning the line five times round each arm of the Boom. The last half centimetre of each arm is bent back through 180 DEG to form a hook. The hooks prevent the turns from coming undone thereby retaining the Boom securely in position on the line without the need for any knots. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Sea angling boom type "T" Beach angling often requires that a weight and baited hook be cast over distances exceeding 100 yds and tackle needs to be streamlined as much as possible against air resistance during the cast. With this in mind the "T" Boom was thought out.

From a 1 6 centimeter length of wire of sufficient thickness that, when a small eye is formed at the center and then closely spiralled for 2.5 centimeters, Fig. 1(a), a quite rigid stem of the "T" is obtained, and when in use is the stand off boom for attaching the hook length to.

The remaining wire is bent at rightangles to the spiralled stem thus forming the arms of the standing "T" Fig. 1(b). These are trimmed to a length of 4.1 centimeters of which the end 0.5 centimeters is turned through 1 80 degress back towards the stem to form small hooks, Fig. 1(c). These hooks and the arms are required to be in the same plane as the eye, thus keeping it all in line without any unnecessary projections.

The length of the arms of the "T" Boom is such to allow the attachment of the Boom to the line by turning the line not less than Five times round each arm of the "T" as in Fig. 2.

The advantage of this boom is that no knots are required for attachment thereby keeping the line as strong as possible during the casting moments, also the Boom is particularly easy for attaching to and detaching from the line, therefore the Boom, with hook attached and baited, can be ready for use and thus timesaving during match fishing.

CLAIM

A "T" shaped Boom which, by turning the line round the arms of the "T", can be fixed quickly and securely to its line without the need to loop or knot the line.

CLAIMS (20 Mar 1981) Having now particularly described my said invention I declare that what I claim is:- 1. Angling device for attaching baited hook line length (snood) to fishing line, said device consisting of a single piece of wire bent in halves and twisted to form a small eye, the twisting being continued to form a short boom, with the remainder of the two limbs of wire bent away from each other, at acute rightangles to the short twisted boom section, with the extreme ends of the limbs turned back towards the twisted boom section, thus forming small hooks which contain the fishing line in position, thereby when the said device is attached to the fishing line, the twisted boom with the small eye is at rightangles to the fishing line with the baited hook line length, (snood), attached to the small eye.

2. Angling device, as claimed in,-claim 1, to be attached firmly in position on an angling line by turns of the line round the aforementioned limbs of the device, thus using neither knots or loops to retain said device where required on the line, thereby causing no weakening of the line at the point of attachment.

3. Angling device to be attached to an angling line, substantially as herein before described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
