Abstract
The method consists in carrying out the rectification process under a reduced pressure and at a minimal pressure differential in the upper section of the column and at an increased pressure in the still of the column. The pressure differential in the upper section of the column equals 3-100 mm of mercury at a pressure of 20-300 mm of mercury, whereas the pressure differential in the lower section of the column equals 0.5-2.4 atm at a pressure of 0.8-2.5 atm in the still of the column. Concentrated solutions of formaldehyde obtained with the said method can be used as raw material in liquid-phase synthesis.
