Abstract

206,271. Lyness, J. C. Aug. 16, 1922. Elastic stockings, kneecaps, and like bandages are formed of thin elastic sheet rubber having closely spaced small perforations for ventilation. The articles may be made by moulding, casting, or dipping, or by joining flat sheets. A separate ring of rubber or like material, rollable upon itself and upon which the bandage may be rolled, is used to facilitate application and removal, or for storage. The diameter of the bandage is at least 15 per cent smaller, when unstretched, than that of the limb. In the Figure a stocking made from two flat sheets is formed with perforations A and with an aperture B and strengthening strips C at the heel, and may be formed with apertures D, E at the knee.
