Abstract
A food slicing machine has a weighing platform onto which the meat etc falls, when it has passed through the slicer. The weight indicator dial is mounted on the machine in such a manner, that it is easily readable by both the machine operator and the buyer of the sliced goods. The machine has a circular cutting blade against which the meat is pressed when the blade is in motion.
Description
SPECIFICATION
Weight Registering Platform Replacing Fixed
Delivery Platform Normally Used on Bacon or Meat Slicing Machines
In a normal machine used for slicing meat, bacon or any other foodstuffs, the goods requiring slicing, are placed on a top platform at.the side of the cutting blade. The circular cutting blade is then set in motion (by power or hand) and after adjustment for thickness of cut, the meat is pressed against the blade and slices of meat as cut fall onto a sheet of greaseproof paper, placed below on a fixed or rigid delivery platform below.
When the operator thinks he or she has the correct weight, they take the meat and paper off, carry it to a weighing machine, (which may be some distance away) to check the weight. If this is below the weight ordered, they return to the slicing machine, replace the paper and meat and cut more slices, which again have to be rechecked for weight, sometimes over, sometimes under. . until correct.
My invention is a simplification of all this process, instead of using a fixed delivery platform on which the cut meat falls, my invention replaces this with a weighing delivery platform, mounted over a weighing machine, thus combining the process of slicing and weighing into ONE operation.
This involves the combining of a slicing machine with a weighing machine, wherein the weighing platform would replace the usual fixed meat delivery platform of a standard slicing machine.
This means a compact weighing unit would have to be built into the slicing machine possibly underneath the normal delivery (now weighing) plate of the slicing machine. A large scale weight indicator would also have to be fitted where the weight cut, could be easily read by both the slicer operator, and the buyer of the goods.
In any large store, this could save hours of labour, and would soon cover the extra initial costs of this improved machine.
Claims
I wish to claim patent rights to cover the following alterations to the structure of any meat, bacon, or other foodstuff slicing machine. This patent to cover both hand or power operated machines.
In a normal meat slicing machine, the delivery platform (on which the meat falls after passing through the cutting blade) is fixed or rigid.
I wish to claim patent rights whenever this is altered so that this fixed delivery plate or platform is replaced by a weighing platform, together with the necessary weighing mechanism and weight indicator, so that delivery of sliced meat (or other foodstuffs) and weighing take place at one and the same time.
In effect this combines a slicing and weighing machine in ONE unit, and I would like to present my claim for patent rights to cover this alteration and addition to any slicing machine.
