Abstract

A toy printing set 1 is provided comprising an elongated box-like holder 2 and a plurality of printing elements 4. The printing elements are selectively attachable to the holder. One wall 3 of the holder is formed to present a pair of oppositely extending projections and the printing elements are of generally channel-shaped cross-section and have inwardly directed flanges which, in the position of use, slidably engage the oppositely extending projections of the holder. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Hand-holdable toy printing set This invention relates to a hand-holdable toy printing set.
According to the present invention, there is provided a toy printing set which comprises an elongated box-like holder and a plurality of printing elements which are selectively attachable to the holder, wherein one wall of the holder is formed to present a pair of oppositely extending projections, and the printing elements are of generally channel-shaped cross-section and have inwardly directed flanges which, in the position of use, slidably engage the opposite extending projections of the holder.
Preferably, both the holder and the printing elements are of a transparent or a translucent material to facilitate accurate positioning of the printed matter on a surface.
The invention is illustrated by way of example in the accompanying drawing in which, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a holder having a plurality of printing elements attached thereto, Figure 2 is an exploded cross-section corresponding to Fig. 1, and Figure 3 is a perspective view of a printing element.
Referring to the drawing, there is shown a holder 1 of a transparent rigid plastics material. The holder is of elongated box-like formation having a body part 2 providing a hand grip, one wall of the body part being extended, at least along two opposite side edges thereof, to present a pair of oppositely extending projections 3.
The printing set further includes a plurality of printing elements 4 of a resilient plastics material. Each printing element 4 is of generally channel-shaped cross-section having inwardly directed flanges 5 to present oppositely directed channels 6 which, in the position of use, slidably engage the projections 3 of the holder 1. The base wall 7 of each printing element 4 has formed thereon, in relief, for example a letter 8 of the alphabet.
Further printing elements 4 may be formed with numerals and/or other indicia.
The present invention provides a simple and relatively inexpensive printing set for children over the age of say three, and may form part of boxed game including additional sets of printing elements, an inked pad, pens, pencils and paper. The printing elements are preferably moulded in a "string" which can be cut up to provide individual elements for use in making up words etc.

A toy printing set comprising an elongated box-like holder and a plurality of printing elements which are selectively attachable to the holder, wherein one wall of the holder is formed to present a pair of oppositely extending projections, and the printing elements are of generally channel-shaped crosssection and have inwardly directed flanges which, in the position of use, slidably engage the oppositely extending projections of the holder.
2. A toy printing set according to claim 1, wherein the holder and the printing elements are of a transparent or a translucent material.
3. A toy printing set substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to and as shown in the accompanying drawings.

**WARNING** start of CLMS field may overlap end of DESC **. SPECIFICATION Hand-holdable toy printing set This invention relates to a hand-holdable toy printing set. According to the present invention, there is provided a toy printing set which comprises an elongated box-like holder and a plurality of printing elements which are selectively attachable to the holder, wherein one wall of the holder is formed to present a pair of oppositely extending projections, and the printing elements are of generally channel-shaped cross-section and have inwardly directed flanges which, in the position of use, slidably engage the opposite extending projections of the holder. Preferably, both the holder and the printing elements are of a transparent or a translucent material to facilitate accurate positioning of the printed matter on a surface. The invention is illustrated by way of example in the accompanying drawing in which, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a holder having a plurality of printing elements attached thereto, Figure 2 is an exploded cross-section corresponding to Fig. 1, and Figure 3 is a perspective view of a printing element. Referring to the drawing, there is shown a holder 1 of a transparent rigid plastics material. The holder is of elongated box-like formation having a body part 2 providing a hand grip, one wall of the body part being extended, at least along two opposite side edges thereof, to present a pair of oppositely extending projections 3. The printing set further includes a plurality of printing elements 4 of a resilient plastics material. Each printing element 4 is of generally channel-shaped cross-section having inwardly directed flanges 5 to present oppositely directed channels 6 which, in the position of use, slidably engage the projections 3 of the holder 1. The base wall 7 of each printing element 4 has formed thereon, in relief, for example a letter 8 of the alphabet. Further printing elements 4 may be formed with numerals and/or other indicia. The present invention provides a simple and relatively inexpensive printing set for children over the age of say three, and may form part of boxed game including additional sets of printing elements, an inked pad, pens, pencils and paper. The printing elements are preferably moulded in a "string" which can be cut up to provide individual elements for use in making up words etc. CLAIMS
1. A toy printing set comprising an elongated box-like holder and a plurality of printing elements which are selectively attachable to the holder, wherein one wall of the holder is formed to present a pair of oppositely extending projections, and the printing elements are of generally channel-shaped crosssection and have inwardly directed flanges which, in the position of use, slidably engage the oppositely extending projections of the holder.
2. A toy printing set according to claim 1, wherein the holder and the printing elements are of a transparent or a translucent material.
3. A toy printing set substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to and as shown in the accompanying drawings.
