A first pocket, opening towards the fold line 5, is provided on an inside face of the panel 3 by folding-in and adhering side flaps 7 and 9 and end flap 11. A second pocket, opening towards the fold line 5, is provided on an inside face of the panel 4 by folding-in and adhering an elongate side flap 14 and a narrow side flap 15, and a third pocket, opening towards the intermediate fold line, is provided on the inside face of the panel 4 by folding in and adhering an end flap 19 having two opposed side edge flaps 20. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Multi-pocketed wallet or envelope This invention relates to a multi-pocketed wallet or envelope made of flexible or semi-stiff sheet material such as paper, particularly, but not exclusively, suitable for containing photographic prints, film strips or negatives.
Accordingly the present invention provides a multi-pocketed wallet or envelope made of flexible or semi-stiff sheet material, comprising first and second outer wall panels foldable about an intermediate fold line into facing overlying relationship, a first pocket, opening towards the intermediate fold line, provided on an inside face of the first panel by a first side flap on one side edge of the first panel folded about a fold line substantially perpendicular to the intermediate fold line, a co-operating first narrow side flap on the opposite side edge of the first panel folded about a fold line substantially perpendicular to the intermediate fold line, and a co-operating first end flap on the outermost edge of the first panel folded about a fold line substantially parallel to the intermediate fold line, with the side flap, narrow side flap and end flap being secured to one another by adhesive, a second pocket, opening towards the intermediate fold line, provided on an inside face of the second panel by an elongated second side flap and a second narrow side flap on opposed side edges of the second panel folded about respective fold lines substantially perpendiculay to the intermediate fold line, and secured to one another by adhesive, and a third pocket, opening towards the intermediate fold line, provided on the inside face of the second panel by a second end flap on the outermost edge of the second panel folded about a fold line substantially parallel to the intermediate fold line to overlie the elongated second side flap, the second end flap being provided with two opposed side edge flaps folded about respective fold lines substantially perpendicular to the intermediate fold line and secured by adhesive to the second pocket thereby to form a closed end for both the second and third pockets.
Advantageously the first side flap has a similar width substantially perpendicularto the fold line as the first narrow side flap substantially perpendicular to its fold line and the first end flap is dimensioned to overlie the infolded first side flap and first narrow side flap and is secured to the outside of the latter two flaps. Alternatively the first side flap is elongated and the first narrow side flap is secured to the outside of the elongated first side flap with the first end flap being secured to the outside of both the first narrow side flap and the elongated first side flap.
Advantageously the second narrow side flap is secured to the outside of the elongated second side flap.
Additionally a line of perforations may be provided on the first outer wall panel so as to permit the first pocket to be detached from the wallet or envelope by tearing along the line of perforations.
For a better understanding of the present invention and to show how the same may be carried into effect, reference will now be made, by way of example, to the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 shows in open plan view a blank from which a wallet or envelope according to a first embodiment of the invention can be made.
Figure 2 shows a wallet or envelope of the invention made from the blank of Figure 1, in an open position, Figure 3 is an open plan view of a blank from which a wallet or envelope according to a second embodiment of the invention can be made, and Figure 4 shows a wallet or envelope made from the blank of Figure 3, in an open position.
Referring now to the accompanying drawings, in particular to Figures 1 and 2 thereof, a multipocketed wallet or envelope 1 according to a first embodiment of the invention is made from a blank of any convenient flexible or semi-stiff, clear or opaque, sheet material such as paper, in any convenient manner such as from a blank 2. The blank 2 and wallet 1 have a first outer wall panel 3 and a second outer wall panel 4 foldable about an intermediate fold line 5 into facing overlying relationship (not shown).
A first pocket 6 is provided on an inside face of the first panel 3 by a first side flap 7 on one side edge of the panel 3 folded about a fold line 8 substantially perpendicular to the fold line 5, a co-operating first narrow side flap 9 and a co-operating first end flap 11. The narrow side flap 9 is provided on the opposite side edge of the panel 3 to the flap 7 and is folded about a fold line 10 substantially perpendicular to the fold line 5. The flap 7 has a similar width substantially perpendicular to its fold line 8 as the flap 9 substantially perpendicular to its fold line 10.
The end flap 11 is provided on the outermost edge of the panel 3 and is folded about a fold line 12 substantially parallel to the fold line 5. The flap 11 is dimensioned to overlie the infolded flaps 7 and 9 and is secured to the outside of the flaps 7 and 9 by any suitable adhesive.
A second pocket 13 opening towards the fold line 5 is provided on an inside face of the panel 4, by an elongated second side flap 14 and a second narrow side flap 15 on opposed side edges of the panel 4, folded about respective fold lines 16, 17. These fold lines 16, 17 extend substantially perpendicular to the fold line 5 and the flaps 14 and 15 are secured to one another by adhesive, preferably with the flap 15 being secured to the outside of the flap 14.
Athird pocket 18 opening towards the fold line 5 is provided on the inside face of the panel 4 by a second end flap 19 and two opposed side edge flaps 20. The flap 19 is folded about a fold line 21 substantially parallel to the fold line 5 to overlie the flap 14, and the flaps 20 are folded about respec-tive fold lines 22 substantially perpendicular to the fold line 5. The flaps 20 are secured by adhesive to the pocket 13 to form a closed end for both the pockets 13 and 18.
Additionally an optional line of perforations 12a is provided on the panel 3 at a distance spaced from the fold line 12, and preferably parallel thereto, sufficient to permit the pocket 6 to be detached from the wallet by tearing along the perforations 1 2a. The detached pocket 6 can then be used, for example, for returning selected negatives to a photographic laboratory for the preparation of reprints therefrom.
The second embodiment of the invention illustrated in Figures 3 and 4 basically is similar to the first embodiment and like parts have like reference numbers. However, in the second embodiment the first side flap 7a is elongated and the infolded first narrow side flap 9 is secured to the outside of the infolded elongated first side flap 7a. The first end flap 1 1a which is narrower in width substantially perpendicular to its fold line 12 than the flap 11 of the first embodiment, is infolded and secured to the outside of both the flaps 7a and 9.
