Abstract

In order to enable two golf clubs to be set up at right angles, as an aid to correct stance, there is provided a cruciform plate (1) with a pair of spring clips (2, 3) arranged on each opposed pair of arms. The pair of clips are on opposite side of the plate to separate the clubs. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Golf aid This invention relates to golf aids.
In establishing a correct golf stance, or in correcting an incorrect stance, golf professionals frequently advise their pupils to use two golf clubs at right angles, one pointing in the intended direction of the stroke and the other across it. The feet of the player are lined up against the said one club and the ball is laid or tool against the other, its position depending on the club to be used for the stroke.
Some people have trouble in gauging a right angle accurately so cannot set the clubs up properly for this exercise themselves, and also in adjusting the stance or the ball position, the clubs may be moved. Accordingly it is an object of the invention to provide a device for holding two golf clubs and right angles.
According to the invention, there is provided a plate member carrying on one side thereof a first pair of spring clips adapted to receive a member golf club shaft lined up on a first axis, and the plates having on the opposite side thereof a second pair of spring clips adapted to receive a golf club shaft lined upon an axis at right angles to the first axis.
The plate member may be cruciform, with the clips arranged one in each arm of the cross.
The invention further includes an aid according to the invention as set forth above having golf clubs located in its pairs of spring clips.
The invention will be further described with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which: Figure 1 is a plan view of a golf aid according to one form of the invention; and Figure 2 is a side elevation of the aid of Fig. 1.
The drawing shows a cruciform plate member 1 having on one side thereof a first pair of spring clips 2 located on one opposed pair of arms, and on the opposite side of the plate member a second pair of spring clips 3 located on the opposite pair of arms. The pairs of spring clips are aligned along two perpendicilar axes and are of such a size as to receive shafts of two golf clubs so as to maintain these shafts at right angles. In the embodiment illustrated, the spring clips are held in position by rivets 4 passing through the plate 1, which may be of metal or plastics material, but it may be more advantageous for the spring clips to be moulded-in to the plate 1 this is of plastics material. The spring clips themselves may be of metal or metal cored plastic, or possibly even of plastics material alone.
Various modifications may be made within the scope of the invention.
1. A golf aid in the form of a plate member carrying on one side thereof a first pair of spring clips adapted to receive a golf club shaft lined up on a first axis, and the plate member having on the opposite side thereof a second pair of spring clips adapted to receive a golf club shaft lined upon an axis at right angles to the first axis.
2. A golf aid as claimed in claim 1, in which the plate member is cruciform, with the clips arranged one in each arm of the cross.
3. A golf aid as claimed in either of claim 1 or claim 2, having a golf club located in each pair of spring clips.
4. A golf aid substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the accompanying drawing.
