Abstract

An oil-collecting ship comprising two floating bodies which can be spread apart and are pivoted to its rear end, oil suction devices for picking up the oil which has been pushed together by the spread-apart floating members, at least one locking device holding the floating members parallel to the longitudinal axis of the ship when the members are folded and in the closed state, and a main drive at the stern, wherein the floating members comprise two half-bodies directly interconnected by a joint at the stern; the locking device which holds the half-bodies together when closed is disposed at the forecastle end bulkhead; and an auxiliary drive is provided at the bow of each half-body, as shown more particularly in Fig. 3. <IMAGE>
