Description

SPECIFICATION Board game This invention relates to a board game to be played together with a set of playing cards and poker chips.
According to the invention a board is marked in 6 to 10 areas covering at least 75 per cent of the area of the board and most of which are marked with indications of selected different playing cards, one area being free to serve as a "poker pot" or "kitty", and one area being marked with a selected arrangement of 2 to 4 playing cards. The game is then played according to rules as hereinafter described.
In a preferred construction the board is marked with eight quadrilateral areas arranged as an octagon by radial lines, six areas carrying an indication of selected cards.
The "kitty" may be marked "Poker Pot".
The playing cards are of normal type viz four suits each of thirteen cards which are ace, king, queen, jack and ten down to two.
The rules are as follows: To start the game. The chips are sold or distributed to all the players. Each player then places chips our a single chip, on one or several of the card areas denominated on the board, and in addition must place one chip on the kitty area (poker pot).
The cards are cut to decide (or mutually agreed) who deals the first hand and successive hands are dealt by the next player in a clockwise fashion. It is dealt until all the cards are used except five cards (constituting a poker hand) which must be placed face down on the POKER POT. The cards in front of the players are dealt face down, and picked up so that other players cannot see their cards. The player with the seven of diamonds starts the game, and places it in front of himself face up. Should there be no seven of diamonds (it may be in the poker pot) then the eight of diamonds is played and so on until the game is started with a diamond higher than the seven. The ace is high in this game. Players follow suit until diamonds counting upwards towards the ace are played and exhausted.Once a player plays the last diamond possible, and is stopped from containing further he then plays his lowest black.
Should he have two black equivalents he can choose which one to play. It is followed by cards of the same suit in sequence by all players until this suit is exhausted. Then the next player plays his lowest red and play is followed suit until play is again exhausted. Once a player has no more cards that is the end of that phase of the game. Whilst play is in progress, players in possession of a card which has its equivalent on a card area on the board, who have the opportunity to play it, should pick up those chips staked on that area, and must pick up at the time and before a successive card is played. The end of the dealt game may also come if the example the lowest red is called for and no player is in possession of a red.If a player'A' is in possession of cards, and has been playing black cards he lays his last black possible, then he finds he is out of a red suit, the next player on his left to have a red suit plays the lowest possible this followed suit etc. and alternated to black when play is exhausted.
Once it is not possible to continue the game by following suit or when one player is out of cards, players select from their hand what they consider to be their best poker hand. The Poker Hand on the table is turned over a comparison is made and the winner picks the stakes on the poker pot. If the poker hand is adjudged the winner the amount remains until won after the next best hand. Play is resumed by re-dealing after re-staking on the board, and continues for an agreed time or until the board is cleared of chips. It may be that certain card areas (e.g. marked 7-8-9 sequence and Ace/King) are won rarely in which event by mutual consent the chips can be taken from the board and placed on the poker pot when it is decided to end the game and played for accordingly.
A variation of the game is to use the poker pot as a 'kitty' to be won by the player who is first out of cards, and not as a poker pot.
The game is preferably played by three to seven players.
A preferred constructional form of the board is shown in the accompanying drawing.
The board may be octagonal or rectangular and may be provided with fold lines. It is marked by radial lines into eight major areas 10 of the same size and shape covering at least 75 per cent of the area of the board with a central octagonal area 11 which may carry a suitable name e.g. "Rummoli" for the game. Six of the major areas are marked to indicate selected cards viz. ten of spades, jack of diamonds, queen of clubs, king of hearts, ace of spades, ace or kind of diamonds. The area 12 is marked "Sequence 7-8-9". The area 13 is marked "Poker Pot".
Poker hands The normal poker hand in order to precedence beginning with the lowest is: One pair Two pairs Three of a kind Three of a kind + a pair (full house) Flush all the same suit Rum Running flush Four of a kind.
