Abstract
A health information device particularly in the form of a bracelet includes a cartridge 4 which can be inserted into a case 1 formed as part of the bracelet. The cartridge 4 includes a magnetic tape on which is recorded information regarding the health of a wearer of the bracelet and a reproduction device for reproducing the recorded information. The cartridge includes an impulse responsive switch which is normally open and is arranged to be closed in response to a predetermined impulse, e.g. that produced on fainting, so that the reproduction device is energised and the recorded information reproduced. <IMAGE>
Description
SPECIFICATION Health information device
The present invention relates to a health informs tion device which can be incorporated into an article of adornment such as a bracelet A feature of the
device consists in being an important means to save human lives, that reveals atthe required time, information recorded on a tape or magnetic wire in
an automatic manner or by manual operation
The device is designed to be used by persons o wish to make known information in the event that, dueto unforeseen drcumstances, sudden illness or
an accident, they should faint In such circum tances, by putting a reproducer in operation, auto-
matically or through aids, the device can inform through a loudspeaker, for example, what illness the
user has, urgent medicine to be applied and how it
must be applied (oral, injectable: subcutaneous,
intramuscular or intravenous); where the medicine
is kept (briefcase, pocket, etc., in a container with
stenlised disposable syringe, etc.). to what sub
stances or medicines is the patient allergic and that
must not be given or applied to same; blood group
and RH factor, and any other information such as the
name of the patient, address, phone number, etc, another advantage of the device is that the text contained in the coil, cartridge, casette, rnagaine and the like can be recorded in different languages so that it is onlv necessary to change said unit accord- ing to the country winere the useris staying atthe time,
Another feabire of this device is that it has an
innpact sensor so that in the event the user faints the shock or strong vibration produced by the fall auto
matically causeithe device to begin operating and
alerts persons Whe draw near to aid the patient In the event that at the time in which the person that uses the device of the invention is near
the floor, for example, leaning down orseated
and the vibration that puts the automatic mechanism in operalion is not produced, a person at ing the patient can search forthe detriceonthe patient's wrist and manually operate it by pushing a
button corresponding to the switch This supposes a
prior promotion of the characteristics of the device in orderlhatanvonewho draws nearto aid a person that has fainted will search for iton the patient's wrist.
According to the present Invention there is pro
vided a health information device for incorporation
in an article of adomment such as a bracetercom
prising a case a sound recording medium in said
case and having recorded thereon information regarding a users health, means for reproducing the information recorded on the medium, and an
impulse responsive swith for causing enengisation
of said reproduction means in response to said device undergoing an impulse of greater than a pre-
determined magnitude.
In one embodiment of the invention there is pro
vided a braceletincorporating a health information
device comprising a case applied on the bracelet
means for reproducing inform ation particularly of a first-aid medical nature recorded in a small car triage, casette and the like that is insertable in The device, an ampilier, a loudspeaker, motor means and an electric power source, a switch having man ual and autoinatic control and having associated therewith a first spring biassed arm for achuating The switch, one end of said arm being retained in a groove in the wall of the case, a second anm which is connected to a flexible or depressible plate associ- ated with a spring which urges said plate such that the end of said first arm remains in said groove unless the device is subjected to an impulse of gre terthan a predetermined magnitude.
The invention will be deschibed now by way of example onlywith particular referencetothe accompanying drawings In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a simplified schematic view of the internal disposition of one embodiment of a device in accordance with the invention;
Figure 2 is a schematic view of the switch of the device, and Figure 3 is a schematic perspective view of a bracelet that incorporates the health information device according to the invention
In the Figures, the same references indicate similar or corresponding parts.
Referring to the drawings a bracelet 2 comprises a case 1 for containing the device and is held fast on the users mist in a conventional manner.
The case has an opening 3 through which a casette, carbidge or coil or a similar element 4 can be inserted. The top of the case has a grid 5 to protect a loudspeaker 6, and a manual-autornatic switch 7 with a knob 8.
Within the special mini-casetle 4 tape from a coil 9 passes between a conductor roller 10 and the nepro- duction head lithe assembly of which includes a relay-reverser-repeater, which is provided to reverse the direction of movement of the tape so that the transmission of the message can be nepeated. The tape passes back and founth continuously between a roller 12 that is initially emply and the full roller 9.A partition 13 has a corrector 14 that is operationally connected with a bulton 14" supplied in the cartridge 4 to establish the continuity of the electric circuit
The tape has recorded information relevantte a users health Such information is reproduced via the loudspeaker 6 when the tape moves pastthe head 11.
Within the case 1 is assembled a transister amplifier 15, an electric power source in The form of cells 16. the above mentioned loudspeaker 6 and the switch 7.
The switch 7 that is sensitive to knocks and vibrations, consists of a sliding switch of a dihedral shape, formed a flange 17 That is displaceable in the direction of the arrowf, for manual operation
For automatic operation, the switch 7 is associated with a spring leaded macha nism 'which includes arms 18 and 19 which form an angled spring member 20. The meniber 20 is fixed to a plate 21 That is depressibly or flexibly disposed in an inclined position relative to the bottom plane 22 of the case 1.
The plate 21 is atioulaled atone end to the plate 22 at point 23, while the other end is held raised in
equilibrium by means of a calibrated spiral spring
24 The spring is selected so that its tension
responds to an impact similar to that of a human body faijing on the floor
The first arm 18, which is urged in a clockwise direction as seen in Figure 2, is held against each movement by its engagement in a groove 25 formed inthe internal wall of the case 1, The switch is completed with a set of contacts 26,27 when the contacts are open no power is supplied to move the tape Theoperationofthe'device is as follows The spring 24 is calibrated in such a way that only a heavy impulse (corresponding for exampleto 50
Kgs. or more dead weight falling on a floor) makes it vibrate. Such a vibration causes the flexible or articulated plate 21 to descend which releases the end of the arm l8oftheangularspring2o displacing it from the groove The arm 18 moves towards and touches flange 17 of the slidable switch 7 duets its elastic action when its anns 1219 dose up.The electric circuit is closed when the oontacts 25,27 ere closed, and the device begins operating. The tape moves pastthe heads ID, 11 and the information recorded on the tape or magnetic coil contained in the artridge is reproduced and transmitted via the loudspeaker 6. Instead of the reverse operation relay merF tioned above to repeat the recoding an endless tape assembled in the cartridge may be used In the event that manual operation is required, it shall be suflfntto operate the ti 7 dispiacing it by means of the knob 8.
It will be appreciated that in putting this invention into practice, some modifications may be introduced withoutthis involving a departure from the basic principles specified in the following claims.
