Description
SPECIFICATION
Arrangement for installing cables, pipes and the like
This invention relates to an arrangement for use in installing cables, pipes and the like in buildings, comprising bracket supports extending perpendicularly and arranged at a spacing from one another, and brackets fastened thereto and carrying cableway supports or channels, which brackets can be adjusted as to their height, and can be arranged in tiers, and the spacing of the bracket supports from one another and also to the height of the bracket also being adjustable or adaptable to the particular individual space and loading conditions of the site in which they are being installed.
Such arrangements are employed in industrial plants, and other building complexes, such as airport buildings and the like, in order to be able to instal therein, easily and simply (and also to simplify repair or exchange or supplement action) ofthe numerous cables that are needed, for example for the current supply of the most varied equipment and machinery, lighting and control installations, and so forth in the plant or building.
The bracket supports, in arrangements which have hitherto become known, are often designed as anchorrailswhich are fastened perpendicularly to the wall of a room and on which the horizontal brackets, serving for the mounting of the cable-way channels, are screwed. A construction of this kind can readily be so designed that the bearing forces, which arise in practice, bearing forces are safely or reliably absorbed.
In addition to this, arrangements for the installation of cables have also been supported separately from the wall, being dowelled only to floor and ceiling of the room and the individual parts being screwed or bolted together.
However, these conventional arrangements are not suitable for incorporation in buildings which are erected in earthquake regions or whose installations installed therein are, on -account of their importance forth-e general supply, also required to remain functional even when the building is exposed to very severe vibrations, for example as a result of explosive shocks occurring in the vicinity. The shocks transmitted, in these instances, to the cableinstallation systems, lead to oscillations within the system, as a result of which self-loosening of the screws or bolts occurs. Moreover, since limits are set on the stability of the known arrangements by the
load-bearing capacity of the screw connections, the
bracket supports and brackets of the previously
proposed arrangements are, as exhaustive tests
have shown, so severely deformed by the accelerations and mass forces resulting from the violent
shocks or oscillations that damage to the cables,
short-circuits and consequential collapse of the
electrical system or systems can occur.
Such occurrences would have particularly grave
consequences for example in relation to the supply
cables in nuclear power stations, because numerous
safety devices and also reactor monitoring and control installations of the station could be put out of operation.
The-problem underlying the invention is to provide an arrangement, of the type described at the introduction hereof, whose stability is not impaired even in the event of the most severe vibrations that can be expected, so that the operation-al safety of the power plant, of which the cables form part, is ensured.
In accordance with the invention, this problem is solved bythe provision of a-supporting system which is adjustable in height and which comprises the bracket supports anchored both in the floor and on the ceiling of the room, and wherein all the connections, between the brackets and the respective bracket supports as well as between holders of the cable-way supports or channels and the brackets, are non-detach-able in form.
A supporting system in accordance with the invention, whose non-detachable connections are produced for-example by welding, rivetting, soldering or bonding with high-strength two-component adhesives, withstands the most severe vibrations and oscillations, without the possibility of loosening of these connections or deformation of the support ing elements, as tests in a so-called simulator have shown.
In a development of the invention, slotte.d-hole screw connections are provided at all the connecting points for the positionally-correct alignment of the brackets on the bracket supports and ofthecable conductors on the brackets. This measure makes it possible to understake the assembly and installation of the supporting system, in accordance with.the invention, in an initial stage, with exact observance of the necessary height positions of the brackets.
Only after all of the brackets have been fixed in their predetermined height levels oftig htening of the screws and also all af the holders of the cableway channels have been adjusted to the necessary width, are the non-detachable connections produced, pre ferably by welds.
In further development of the invention,#the bracket supports are designed as tubu.lar colu.mns or profile-irons, the height adjustment of which is permitted, for the purpose of adapting the same to the clear heightofthe room inside which the supporting system is to be mounted, by the provision, in the upper region thereof, of a telescopicallyengaging adjusting tube and which are supported by means of welded foot and head plates on floor and ceiling of the room. Thus the satisfactory connection of the bracket supports to the floor and the ceiling of the room is ensured.Play arising from tolerances between the pipe col#umn and the adjusting tube can be obviated in a simple way by inserting flangedover compensating plates into the gap between pipe column and adjusting tube.
Further features of the supporting system in accordance with the invention are indicated in the sub-claims.
Shown in the accompanying drawing is an exem
plified embodimentof a supporting system in
accordance with the invention, with reference to which this invention will be explained in more detail
hereinunder.
The illustrated supporting system comprises a bracket support 1, which is supported by means of a foot plate 2, welded at its lower end, against a floor 3 of a room (the rest of which is not shown) and extends to the ceiling 4 of the room by way of an adjusting tube 5 and head plate 6 welded to the latter.
Between the inner wall surface of the bracket support 1 which is designed as a square tube, and the outer wall surface of the adjusting tube 5, which correspondingly has a rectangular cross-section, sufficient compensating plates 7 are inserted to ensure that secure and safe circumferential fixing of the adjusting tube 5 inside the bracket support 1 is achieved, The compensating plates 7 are advantageously flanged-over at their upper end, in order to achieve an adequate axial fixing during the compensating operation.
The bracket 8, which lies with its rear retaining plate 9 against the bracket support 1, is connected at the desired height to the bracket support 1 by means of a U-shaped tension clamp comprising a pipe clamp 10 and appropriate tension screws 11. Corresponding brackets 8 are fastened at the same height to further similar bracket supports (not shown) in a supporting system in accordance with the invention, which supports are arranged so as to be spaced apart at specific intervals. Furthermore, also several brackets 8 may be fastened one above the other conventionally to a single bracket support 1, so that within the supporting system there are several tiers of the brackets, on which later the cable-way channels can be installed.
After all of the brackets 8 have been clamped tight in tiers, with the most accurate possible height alignment, by means of their clamps 10, 11, the retaining plates 9 are (as shown in the drawing) welded to the respective bracket supports 1 and in this way a vibration-secure, dynamically-reliable connection between the bracket support 1 and the bracket 8 is produced.
Afterthat, cable supports are fixed in place. These consist of two spaced-apart angle irons 12 and 13 as well as spaced-apart cross-struts 14, which are disposed at predetermined intervals between the nutually-opposite horizontal limbs of the angle irons 12 and 13 and are welded to the latter. The cable supports, consisting in themselves of the angle irons 12 and 13 with the struts 14 extending therebetween have the appearance of ladders. In fixing each cable support in place, a retaining screw 15 is placed from below through a bore of the horizontal limb ofthe bracket 8 and is screwed into a strap 16 which initially lies loosely on the horizontal limb of the angle iron 13. Now the cable supports consisting of the parts 12 to 14 are aligned on the brackets 8, and after that the retaining screw 15 is tightened up.
Then each cable support is welded to each bracket 8.
Bores 17 are provided to permit anchoring of the foot plate 2 in the floor 3 and the head plate 6 in the ceiling 4 by means of anchor screws or bolts (not shown).
