Abstract

In a method of making plasterboard a slurry containing water and calcium sulphate alpha - hemihydrate in a proportion within the range 0.4 part to 1.0 part by weight of water for each part by weight of hemihydrate, with the further addition of a thickening clay in those cases where the said range is 0.6 part to 1.0 part by weight is used. Suitable clays are attapulgite, bentonite and sepiolite in proportions ranging from 0.1% to 5% by weight of the slurry.
