Abstract

A barrel for containing herrings and other solid lump material consists of a tub-shaped lower part (1), a sleeve- shaped upper part (2) and a cover or lid (3). The upper and lower barrel parts (1 and 2) and the cover (3) are made of plastics material and are connectable to each other by screw threads to form a barrel or cask. The construction facilitates layered loading by hand of the contents into the tub-shaped lower part, prior to attachment of the upper part. After attachment of the upper part, loading is completed, and the lid attached. <IMAGE>
