Abstract

A closed support frame for galleries or tunnels consists of a U-shaped arch portion (1) to which a straight floor beam (2) is connected. In order to enable the floor beam (2) to resist the rock pressure from below, it has upward projecting lugs (11) to which are connected the legs of the U-shaped portion (1). The lateral rock pressure causes the floor beam (2) to bend downwardly so that any rock pressure acting from below can be absorbed. The floor beam may be in two parts slidable relative to one another and held together by clamps. <IMAGE>
