Abstract

Apparatus for cutting carpet and similar tough, flexible sheet materials (22) including a metal base (10) having a recess (13) in which a plastics blade guide (15) is snap fitted. The guide (15) has a slot (20) to receive and guide a blade (24). The apparatus is placed under the topmost layer of carpet on a roll and the blade is guided cleanly across by the slot (20). The blade guide (15) can periodically be replaced when worn. <IMAGE>
