Abstract

A dental endodontic instrument e.g. a file, broach or reamer has a handle (7) and a shank (8). The shank has a working surface (10) and includes a plurality of equally spaced calibration rings (11). During tooth canal cleaning, in which several instruments of the same length but of a different width are used, the operator can judge the working length from the calibrated shank protruding from the tooth so that the cleaning can be carried out consistently to the same working length. The instrument is hand or power driven. <IMAGE>
