Abstract

A mixer head 10 for mixing two or more flowable components of a synthetic plastics material is provided with a further inlet 21, in addition to those inlets 16, 17 for the flowable materials, to enable an additive such as glass fibres to be introduced directly into the mixing chamber 11 without passing through the feed system for the flowable materials. The further inlet may comprise a feed passage extending axially through the cleaning plunger 19 and a reciprocable piston 22 for pushing the additives out of the passage into the chamber. The chamber 11 may be lined with a replaceable wear bush 27. <IMAGE>
