Abstract

A mechanism for articulating a limb of a toy, which comprises a limb having first (14) and second (15) members pivotably secured together, a mechanism frame upon which the first member of said limb is pivotably mounted and bearing motor (1), a gear train comprising one or more gears (2,3,4,5,5'6) and a rotatably cam (7) operatively connected together, a connecting rod (9) being mounted eccentrically on the cam (7) and connected to said second member (15) of said limb, movement of said connecting rod (9) being so constrained that upon rotation of the cam (7) the distal part of the second member (15) of said limb moves in an elliptical fashion. The mechanism preferably has one or two pairs of legs and can walk or run in a realistic manner. <IMAGE>
