Abstract
Apparatus for monitoring the insulation of insulated electric wire makes it possible to check the thickness of the insulation along a certain direction relative to the axis of the wire (4). One side of a pulley (33) is made of insulating material and the other side of conductive material. At their periphery, the two sides have frustoconical rims positioned at a 45 DEG angle to a plane perpendicular to the shaft of the pulley. An HF generator (36) feeds a measuring bridge formed by a reference capacitor (C1) and the capacitor constituted by the pulley (33) and the section of the wire (4) in contact with the groove. By causing the wire to pass over several differently arranged pulleys in succession, it is possible to measure the thickness of insulation in different radial directions relative to the axis of the conductor, to compare them, and to calculate the eccentricity. <IMAGE>
