Abstract

An exhaust silencer, and a method of producing same, wherein a chamber contains sound-absorbing material 16 of a non-fibrous nature. The material comprises a mass of discrete pieces of a heat- resistant, sound-absorbing material such as vermiculite which are either loose and packed in the chamber or bonded together by a heat-resistant adhesive such as sodium silicate or a suitable resin. <IMAGE>
