Abstract

An output stage for a system for regenerating a signal in ternary code from two signals representing opposite polarity in binary code comprises two switching circuits connected to respective antiphase primary windings (3,4) of a transformer. Each switching circuit comprises two transistors (T1, T3, T2, T4) and a diode (D1, D2) and the two binary signals are fed to respective bases of one transistor (T1, T2) of each circuit. The signals in the primary windings (3,4) appear superimposed in the secondary winding 5. A reference voltage is fed to the connected emitters of the first mentioned transistors and this voltage may be altered in dependence upon the level of the ternary code signal appearing on the transistor secondary. Each switching circuit can operate at higher speed than a known circuit comprising a transistor and two diodes. <IMAGE>
