Abstract

A penicillin V-acylase is produced by cultivation of a bacterial strain having the general characteristics of the strain deposited in NRRL with the number 11240, as well as variants or mutants of such a strain in which the ability to produce penicillin V-acylase is retained. A method of producing said penicillin V-acylase and the use of such a penicillin V-acylase in the preparation of 6-APA and 7-ACA and homologs thereof is described.
