Abstract

A machine for the production of composite corrugated board comprising a corrugated core layer 4 with a facing layer 2, 9 on one or each side is controlled to produce a production lot of a selected number of boards of a given length by apparatus incorporating a processor 19 with memories for machine parameters including the length of board in the machine during production, and sensors comprising pulse generators located next to the first laminating unit 5, between roll 8 for the second facer and the second laminating unit 10, and at 20 to enumerate the pieces but by cutter 12, and also comprising photoelectric cells 14, 15 for detecting the number of finished boards cut and the length of board fed into the machine, and also to detect the passage of corrugations of the board during manufacture, the processor operating to compute from these the instantaneous value of the residual length of board required to finish the production lot and to feed a signal representing this value into a command unit 17, 18 which cuts off the board supply to the machine when the residual length falls to zero indicating that a length of board sufficient to complete the lot has been fed in to the machine. <IMAGE>
