A bed assembly comprising two beds set one above the other which are adapted to be independently adjustable between a first position in which the bed is horizontal and a second position in which the bed is pivoted to a vertical position on swivel studs (22), the assembly being demountable to convert each bed to a free-standing bed. <IMAGE>
