Abstract

An adduct of pentaerythritol and of lead oxide, and a process for the production of same. The novel adduct can be used as efficient stabilizer for the stabilization of PVC type resins; the stabilizer may contain other lead salts, for example basic lead salts of fatty acids. The process comprises reacting pentaerythritol and lead oxide in a suitable proportion (advantageously in a molar ratio of about 1 to 2) at a temperature above 170 DEG C, until the colour of the lead oxide disappears. There are disclosed certain catalysts for this reaction.
