Abstract

A height adjustment mechanism for a vehicle seat cushion which permits selective vertical adjustments of the forward and the rearward portions of the seat. The seat support 18 includes fore and aft brackets 20, 22 which extend downward from the seat cushion and are attached in a pivotal manner 28, 30 at their lower ends to the outboard ends of link arms 32, 34. The link arms extend in the fore and aft direction from a central location where they are pivoted about a common axis 46 and supported by a stationary support or bracket means 42, 44. Interaction between pins 16, 18 carried by latch members 60, 62 pivoted at 72, 74 to the arms and vertically toothed sector means 56, 58 formed in the stationary brackets 42, 44 positively locates the arms in a preselected vertical position. An actuating rod 46 includes a cam portion 88 near its end which produces selective unlatching movement of the pins away from the toothed sectors to allow height adjustment. <IMAGE>
