Abstract

Yarn (14) to be heat-treated is wound over a pair of rolls comprising a heated roll having a hollow outer cylinder (6) and a delivery roll (15). The cylinder (6) rotates with a drive shaft (2) with respect to a fixed inner on cylinder (1) via ball-bearings (11, 12). A hollow cylindrical space (3) is provided between the cylinder (1) and the part zone (6') of the cylinder (6) and is supplied with a fluid heating medium through supply and discharge lines (4, 5). The heating medium will be used in other, hotter, parts of the yarn treatment apparatus and a desired lower temperature for the zone (6') is achieved by providing an air gap (13). A bush (17) is spaced by webs (17') from the zone (6'') of the cylinder (6). The delivery roll (15) comprises parts (15' and 15'') of different diameters aligned respectively with the zones (6' and 6'') of the cylinder (6) and the part (15') of smaller diameter is formed with grooves (18) to receive the yarn which will be in a reduced tension (whilst subjected to heating). <IMAGE>
