Abstract

Synthetic fibres are subjected to an electrically produced gas discharge before sizing is applied to the fibres. One embodiment of installation (Figure 1) for carrying out the method provides a sizing box (10) and a low pressure gas discharge device (3) which is arranged horizontally or vertically upstream of the sizing box. A corona discharge device (25) (Figure 2) can be substituted for the low pressure gas discharge device (3). <IMAGE>
