Abstract

A satellite has a central, thermally stable lattice structure (1) of rods or bars of carbon fibre reinforced plastics material. At the connecting points (3) of the rods or bars, satellite component modules (6 to 11) are mounted. With this form of construction, satellites for various purposes can be more readily constructed. The lattice structure is supported by an adaptor (12) which permits geometrical transition from a circular cross-section (e.g. of a carrier stage) to the lattice cross-section (55). <IMAGE>
