Abstract
An apparatus for transferring at least one elongate member includes fixed beams whose upper surfaces include a longitudinal array of identical convex curves. The apparatus also has movable beams whose upper surfaces define points which describe a closed path which intersects the upper surfaces of the fixed beams at the junction points of the curves in the ascending portion of the closed path, and which intersects the curves at a point downstream from their uppermost portions in the descending portion of the closed path. The elongate members which initially rest at the junctions of the curves of the fixed beams are therefore picked up by the moving beams during their ascent, and are subsequently deposited on the downstream portion of the adjacent downstream arc during the moving beams' descent. The square section elongate members rotate 90 degrees as they continue, under their own weight, to the junction immediately downstream from the initial junction. <IMAGE>
