Abstract

A non-metallic wearplate 16 is disclosed for use between a railroad car coupler and striker. The wearplate is an ultra-high molecular weight polymer which is polyethylene having a molecular weight in the range of from 2,000,000 to 10,000,000. It is detachably secured to the coupler shank 13. A like wearplate may be detachably secured to the striker. <IMAGE>
