Abstract

An intruder detector has an alarm and detector module 1 from which a tensioned line 26 is extended to a remote location. Within the detector module 1 a rod 14 is biased towards a position in which it will close a pair of contacts 10, 11 and set off the alarm, but is held against the bias by the normal tension on the line 26. A plunger 17 at the end of this line 26 is releasably held to rod 14 by the action of a spring clip 24 so that the alarm will be set off either by increased tension on the line, caused by an intruder, overcoming the spring clip 24 and disconnecting the line 26 from the rod 14, or by decreased tension on the line if an intruder cuts it. The alarm will also be set off if the cover 14 is removed. When the cover is removed a spacer 13 is removed from between contacts 11 and 12 in the alarm circuit. <IMAGE>
