Abstract

A method of packaging a rectangular block 10 of cheese or other soft material wrapped in plastics film comprises fitting around the block 10 a container formed in two sections 40, 41 each consisting of two adjacent side panels 45, 47, or 48, 49 and an end panel 46 or 50 which cooperate with the panels of the other section to form a closed chamber, pressing the sections 40, 41 together with each panel engaged flat against a separate face of the block 10, and securing the two sections together e.g. by nylon straps. The sections may be fitted with interlocking guide means 51-54, 55-58 which prevent relative movement normal to the side panels but permit a small degree of freedom of movement normal to the end panels. The guide means may comprise tongues on the side panels engageable in grooves in the end panels. <IMAGE>
