Abstract

A magnetic tape reel holder or cassette comprising a pair of plate members (1) secured together and having a pair of spindle holes (6) for receiving spindles around and between which tape is wound, the tape passing from one spindle to another around a pair of guide studs (8), wherein a plurality of ribs (5) extend radially from each hole (6) to the edge (2) of the plate members (1) which ribs (5) increase in height radially outwardly from the respective hole (6), the internal surfaces of the plate members between adjacent ribs being roughened, and wherein ribs (9, 10, 11) are also provided in a region between each guide stud (8) and the edge (2) of the plate members in a direction generally transverse to the direction of tape movement in those regions. <IMAGE>
