Abstract
A tire pressure alarm system includes a plurality of wheel units each comprising an antenna (152) for transmitting signals when the tire pressure is correct (no signal or an insufficient signal being transmitted when the tire is over or under inflated), said antenna being located within the tire cavity; and attachments on the annulus, for respectively receiving and transmitting a signal (202), generating power (122), and sensing tire inflation pressure or gas mass (102), said attachments preferably being in a substantially symmetrical arrangement and having substantially similar weights for proper balancing the unit during rotation of the tire; and electrical interconnections between the attachments on the one hand and the wire of the antenna on the other hand. The power generator (122) may be replaced by means on the vehicle body for transmitting power to the wheel unit via antenna (152) or a separate antenna. The system further includes a receiving circuit which indicates when a wheel unit is not transmitting a sufficient signal and may indicate which wheel unit it is. <IMAGE>
