Abstract

This invention relates to glass fracture detectors comprising a stylus 14 mounted on a piezo-electric flexure element 11 held in a clamp 12 on the sheet of glass 13, so that the stylus 14 is in point contact with the glass 13 optionally via an intermediate layer of material. A shock wave picked up by the stylus 14 causes the element 11 to produce an electrical signal which is taken over conductors 15 to an alarm circuit, which includes either a differentiator (18) for detecting the rate of rise of the loading edge of a shock pulse or a high pass or band pass filter (23), Fig. 3 (not shown). <IMAGE>
