Abstract

The invention relates to a method of packing and packaging a load bearing parachute in such a way that when the parachute and load are ejected from a spinning missile, the parachute unfolds without twisting of its shroud lines and other parts. The parachute has a canopy (2) with panels (4, 5, 6, 7), shroud lines (8), and a suspension strand (10) for carrying the load. The panels are formed into a layered assembly with the shroud lines looped (8a) between the layers. The layered assembly is folded up and the suspension strand is coiled (Figure 8) within the folded pack so that only an end of the strand projects. The pack is then placed in a missile container or a transport container. <IMAGE>
