Abstract

A method for the two-stage moulding of a blind rivet adapted to have a rivet body radially expanded by the upward movement of a shank comprises a first stage for moulding a shank 1 in a first die and a second stage for setting the essential part of the shank in position within the cavity C1, C2 of a second die for moulding a rivet body and subsequently injecting a synthetic resin into the second die and thereby forming a rivet body around the shank, which method comprises allowing the injection of the synthetic resin into the cavity of the die for moulding the rivet body to be effected through the medium of a ring gate G disposed at the lower end of the cavity and thereby producing a uniform flow of the synthetic resin from said lower end to the cavity for the moulding of the head portion of the rivet body. <IMAGE>
