Abstract
A thermistor (112) or other electrical component has electric contact material (116) applied on at least one surface which is positioned over the surface of a supporting substrate (130) carrying two conductors (132, 134) to which the contact material on the component is to be electrically connected. In one embodiment of the invention, a gap (154) is formed to extend through the substrate (130) allowing an abrading element (156) to extend for abrading the contact material (116), thereby to form two contacts from the unitary layer of contact material each connected to only one substrate conductor 132, 134. In another embodiment, the layer of contact material (116) is removed by a laser beam projected through the gap (154) or a transparent section of the substrate. <IMAGE>
