Abstract

A dispensing container for releasing tablets such as aspirin or saccharine tablets one at a time. A relatively simple construction has a tubular reservoir 11 with a circular mouth 14 defined by an inwardly projection flange 17 with an inwardly projecting tongue 18. An obturator 12 has a cylindrical part 19 which plugs into the mouth of the reservoir with the flange 17 engaging grooves 25. The tongue 18 projects into and partly closes off inlet portions 21 of any one of four dispensing chambers 20 in the obturator 14. An outlet aperture 16 adjacent the tongue 18 allows one or more tablets in a delivery channel 28 of the chamber 20 beyond the tongue 18 to escape. The other three chambers 20 are closed by the rim 15 of the reservoir 11 but receive tablets from the reservoir 11 through their inlet portions 21 which are funnel shaped so as to admit only one tablet or a predetermined whole number of tablets to the channels 28 of the chamber 20. Tablets can be dispensed one or more at a time through the aperture 16 by rotating the obturator 12 in the mouth of the reservoir 11.
